I felt like writing something… not just something. I felt like writing something creative. I have been complemented about my creative writing skills but somehow (surprise-surprise) after writing at least hundred essays I have kind of lost my natural writing form. I’m going to have the last exams of my first year in upper secondary school tomorrow and after that I theoretically free to do what ever I want to do with my summer holiday. Of course I’ll be working but a job is a totally different thing compared to school.

I have been really lazy when it comes to gathering my summer bucket list. I will be doing this and that by the mood but now I’d like to officially add there the following: I want to find my pen again. Yes, I have lost my favorite pen but more importantly I have lost the way of writing I’m good at, which I love.

I’m 99 per cent sure you’re all bored to always notice that oh, a video again instead of some meaningful writing. I want to change that. The struggle I’ve been through with this blog is far bigger and tougher I had realized. Finding and gathering a good and interesting content isn’t the easiest thing to do. I’ve tried now a couple different styles which I have first been super excited and then after a while bored. That is not how it should be.

Today I went to YLE to put my signatures to some forms. They have this big fancy hall there and there I noticed probably the most motivating sentence of the year so far. It said Content strikes back. So true, so true. Will this be my motto for the upcoming years of blogging.

Thank you. I love all of you who read the whole stuff above. I appreciate every single glance :) Please tell me in the comments what do you think about all this. Do you agree with the content thing? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

21 May 2014

It’s been a while since I have actually written anything. I actually did make a video about this/last weeks greetings but I literally looked dead. So that’s why I remembered this whole writing thing.

I’ve been really truly busy and now I’m just extremely tired. Sadly, my exam week just begun yesterday and I still have six more exams to go… *sigh. I’ve now done the first of two maths and today I’ll be tested in English which reminds me about last weekend.

On early Saturday morning, around 5 or 6 am I think, I woke up and left to Tikkurila to catch the Pendolino train to Tampere. There we (my dad, myself and some others) hopped off and me and the other youngsters hopped on to a bus which drove us to Virrat. The reason I sacrificed my morning was the pre-orientation camp (it has a real, fancy name which I unfortunately can’t remember) for the YFU exchange students, class 2014-15. Over 130 becoming exchange students in the same place was just something what you want to experience yourself, believe me. We had loads of info sessions but also tutoring and games. We had this awesome american guy Trent to help us with small talk and other communication skills. These sessions were probably the most useful but also my favorites because, firstly, we Finns suck at both and secondly it was ever so fun.

I had my camera with me during the whole weekend. Still I managed to snap only one photo. Shame on me.

As I mentioned above, my exam weeks started and that means the school’s about to end soon. I got pretty excited when on Monday I realized I had just had the last school day here in Finland before my departure. Slightly crazy, isn’t it. Two weeks of exams then the graduation day (I’m not graduating yet :D ) and then the summer holiday. I will have one day of holiday and the on Monday the 2nd of June I’ll start working at YLE, also crazy. On of the radio hosts followed me on Instagram yesterday and that made me so happy.

I was so sure it was Sunday today. This is what happens when you have a couple days of holiday. Anyway, I’m back now (sorry about the Friday too, had my friend here so I couldn’t film/write you the testing DIYs post :/). This – or actually last week I have some style things to share with you. I actually forgot to mention about one thing on my first greetings video: I will post about style/fashion AND/OR photographing on Sunday.

It has been super sunny and warm here in Finland during the Easter. That is why I've been able to wear skirts and dresses without feeling freezing.

On Saturday Elina came here and we went to photograph. We had some great time enjoying the sun and laughing to our silly faces. I really love this outfit. I was quite doubtful with this shirt but it actually turned out to work well. It is from New Yorker. Now, there is a little story related to that Top Shop skirt. Once upon in England I stumbled across a lovely denim skirt at Bershka. Unfortunately they didn't have my size so I had to leave it to the store. I still liked the shape of that skirt that during the rest of our language course I had to look for a similar one. Then on the last week I went to Top Shop and found almost exactly similar skirt. It costed a fortune but I decided to buy it - and good that I did because I haven't had to look back even once. It has payed itself back for a hundred times.

When I first started in Tilu, our upper secondary school, I wrote this post about my first day (although I didn't translate the whole post in English). Anyway, I told how excited I was about my first day, how I was late and other general stuff like that. Now I feel like I have changed a lot - in a good way. So I thought why wouldn't I write a post to you about this topic.

This school year has ran so quickly I barely noticed. It still feels like yesterday when I was one of the new students, tried to find my way from the Tikkurila railway station to the new big school. And it was not just any school - it was (and still is :D) upper secondary school. Nowadays I sometimes forget all that "luxury" I saw when I first came. I tend to smile those times. It's funny because I have somehow got lost in all the information, education and civilization and think I'm so sophisticated. Ha!

The time is running so fast. I'm really truly blessed to have an exchange year. I'll have one "extra year" in upper secondary school. I don't want to leave... ever. It feels a bit scary, the future I mean. When I'll step out from upper secondary school I'll be an adult (age-wise) and obliged to my very own decisions. I love to have the power to decide about my life but now I'm talking about some bigger decisions like a career and residence. All that will be slammed to my face after three years. Only three years!

Now I have to focus to my current situation. I'm enjoying studying as earlier. I got a host family and a initial date of departure (check the counter at right). I'm almost done with my first school year. I'm fairly happy. That's quite enough :)

Nautin opiskelusta, kuten aiemminkin. Sain isäntäperheen ja alustavan lähtöpäivän (katsokaa laskuria oikeassa laidassa). Olen melkein kokonaan suorittanut lukion ensimmäisen vuoden. Olen suhteellisen onnellinen. Se on ihan riittävästi :)

9 March 2014

Olen nyt katsellut vähän aikaa, no aika pitkään juu, hyvälaatuista digipokkaria. Tehtävä on osoittautunut yllättävän hankalaksi, sillä aloin todella valikoivaksi. HD videokuvasta en lähde tinkimään väristä puhumattakaan. Kaiken huipuksi olen valmis maksamaan tällaisesta paketista maksimissaan satasen enkä yhtään yli. Kuten varmasti tuli arvattua, en löytänyt mitään. Ehkä vielä joku päivä tuollainen kävelee vastaan. Ehkä, ehkä.

It's time to get something done. I actually haven't had any life this week. Or more like no life with camera. It has been standing there, on the top of my tripod, all alone. Finally this morning I grabbed it to my bag while heading to Helsinki exhibition center. There was this huge GoExpo sports theme including biking, golf, ball sports, fitness, fishing, hunting, horses and the icing on the cake: photographing. I have been searching for a high quality digital pocket camera but it's pretty hard 'cause I'm really choosy on these things. I have to be able to film HD videos, I want it in particular color and I'm not so willing to pay more than 100 euros for it. So as you might have guessed I didn't find one. Maybe someday I'll find one. Maybe, maybe.
