laskettelua Rukalla

Greetings from Ruka, Northern Finland! I've been at home for two days now and couldn't be happier with the weather... kidding, it's awful! It surely is warmer than a couple weeks ago but it's also grayer, wetter and duller. It's warm enough to say the ice age is over but still could enough to not be able to wear lovely spring jackets. I'm done here, come on summer, I need you!

So we traveled to Lapland, well almost to Lapland actually, to Kuusamo where the Ruka skiing center locates. I haven't been on any kinds of skis for two years now so I was a bit terrified to get on again. It didn't actually go so bad. The only time I tripped or fell was in ski storage room (off skis).

Oli siellä toki muutakin tekemistä kuin laskettelu. Rukan uudistusten myötä kylästä löytyi useampikin kauppa, jotka piti tietenkin käydä läpi. Omat ostokseni rajoittuivat kolmeen postikorttiin :D Aika heikko esitys, vai mitä.

Then, of course, we did something else too. There was some stores in Ruka village so, naturally, we had to check them. The final sum of my shopping was three post card :D Pretty poor, don't ya think. For the balance we did eat well, veeeeery well. On the second evening I had marbled ox beef with red wine sauce and wedges. On Saturday we ate pizza and on Sunday I ate scampi fajitas. Mmm, the food was excellent, even thought a bit too salty to me.

  1. Pizza and Fajitas! I had to smile when I read that. Pardon my "classic American" realization that I don't think I have ever met anyone from Finland before, but I have heard wonderful things about your country. The photos are GLORIOUS!! I live in Central California here in the US. Too warm in the winter... I won't say how warm because... well, just because. Happy to be in the same tribe as you for the #sitsblogging Comment Love Challenge!

    1. Thanks for a wonder comment :) Yeah, pizza and fajitas may not sound as classy as the ox beef, but were good too. I'd be so happy to be in CA right now. Enjoy your "summer" :D

  6. It looks beautiful! I have never been to Finland but would love to visit, even in the winter! I also love to ski! At least in Lapland the cold weather is good for that, here where I live in Chicago there is no good skiing, but plenty of cold, damp, gray snow- so I would definitely trade!

    1. Yeah, I now, it's so gray and wet here in Southern Finland too. It is so nice (and kinda funny) to hear people are dreaming to visit Finland, but it's nice they do :)
